Mr. & Mrs.

One of my husbands very good friends just got married this weekend and I wanted to come up with something special for him and his bride. So I came up with frame art.

I love decor for around the house, and something personal always adds that sweet little touch.

Utensil holder

Here is another recycle project. I found yet another way to re-use a baby formula can. Just another little embellishment to my mothers party. Some scrap paper, and more use with the martha stewart butterfly punch. :) another super easy project, this time using mod podge.

Butterfly garland

Here is another little tidbit for my mothers birthday. It was a surprise party, so I've been waiting and waiting and waiting to post my work, but couldn't because I didn't want her to see anything.. not one little detail. I had some tulle laying around, and used basic butterfly stickers to make a little garland to add a little oomph to the present table. It took me less than half hour to tie all the knots and adhere the butterflies. Just a simple embellishment. I don't generally post pics of me, so this is a treat. :p

butterfly specimen art

I know I know, many of you are thinking, thats been done before.. but I never tried it and when I got my martha stewart butterfly punch (FINALLY) I just had to try it. Ever since I seen this version, seen here: I was intrigued. so, here is my version:

I wanted to go a little further and add the pop, by having certain butterflies come out of the frame. It kind of eerily reminds me of the movie "The Ring" where the fly comes out of the TV screen, but I let myself get past that, because I wanted to be different.

I'm not old, I'm seasoned

My mother loves spices, and I wanted to give her something practical for her birthday, but I can't just give her a big container of basil and say 'happy birthday'.. that would be tacky. Well, she turned 50 so I had to come up with something witty and without further ado:

It didn't take much effort.. just a little scrap paper, the computer to print out the quote "I'm not old, I'm seasoned" which yes, pun intended... and tape. It took me probably 5 minutes and voila! Of course, she loved it. :)

Paper Snakes

As promised, we made snakes that we saw on http://familyfun.go.com/crafts/paper-snakes-674385/ here is our version

Who would have thought that a couple of pieces of scrap paper could be so much fun?? Until of course, they ripped.. but we saw that coming. :)

fingerpainting

I wanted to give my little man something fun to do, but didn't want to have a huge cleanup. So I decided to lay out some newspapers, and fill a couple of rinsed out baby food containers with shave cream (only thing I could think of) and mixed with 1 drop of food coloring in each. I let Preston go to town, and I even helped him make fa fies (butterflies). I guess you're wondering how this was "easy" cleanup... well, I didn't use a lot of shave cream, and they were in baby food containers.. I just threw them away when I was done. Nothing to rinse or put away. That was the easy part, and since shave cream is basically soap, it made his hands nice and clean when we rinsed them off. Its all in good fun. I promised him we would make "snakes" later. Here is our artwork from earlier.

Dollar Store Mothers day frame

I like to try to make at least one hand made gift per person for holidays and needed something for MIL. I decided to search the web for some quotes and found one I really liked, fancied up the font, printed, embellished and stuck into a dollar store frame. It was really easy, and did not hurt our shoe string budget. I hope she likes it. :)
