advent calendar

here are some little advent pockets I am working on, finished product real soon. I got the idea from http://allsorts.typepad.com/allsorts/2007/11/advent-calendar.html but of course, made it my own. All the felt I got from the dollar store.. actually, less than 2 packs.. so about 1.50 and some embroidery floss. Not too shabby.

Memory Game

I was inspired to do this from homeadebyjill.blogspot.com. Actually, alot of my ideas come from that site. I simply used wooden coasters I picked up from michaels, my cricut, with the paper doll cartrige and some mod podge, and voila, preston has a memory game. This is one of many christmas presents I am making for him. More to come! Thanks Jill, for your inspiration!

Alexis Birthday Party/Halloween themes

This is the finished version of the Bat Mobile I worked on. I used spider web for the cloud.
Alexis wanted a graveyard/dirt cake for her birthday party. I found the headstones at walmart for 1.00 each. The rest of the goodies came from the dollar store. As for the cake? It is just boxed chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, and I used halloween oreos (orange filling) and crushed them up to create "dirt".

I never got a close up shot of the "snack-o-lanterns" I made. I got the idea from familyfun.go.com. They are just oranges, hollowed out, carved a face in them and stuffed with fruit cocktail. Then, I shoved spoons through the top for "stems".

My bat Mobile

I printed the templates off of familfun.com. I traced them onto foam sheets then applied glitter to them and strung them onto a wire hanger. Voila.. I actually added spider webbing from the dollar tree to the hanger itself, to create a cloud and added spiders for more halloween effect.

My stepdaughter Alexis helped make these. These puppets came from yet another Martha Stewart kit. They always come in handy for kids to make something of their own. I love easy, go-to crafting.

here are the first steps to the quiet book I am making for Preston. The mailbox will have a slot in it for a letter addressed to him. The numbers will eventually be inside a zippered back pack, to pull out and attach to matching numbers on the opposite page. The apples on the tree will come off the tree and place in the bucket. The Stars will have button holes, so he can button them into the sky.
